Doing the right thing

There has been a lot of praise placed at the feet of the PM for her actions of late. And “late” here is the important word. Now don’t get me wrong, standing up for what is clearly wrong of a man hitting a woman is a must. But what we must not forget is that nothing was done, then or since, when a male MP verbally attacked a female MP, or when a female staffer about a ministry was sent to St Ann’s. All these things are forgotten now.

One must not forget, “We do the right thing because it is the right thing to do” was not coined by the PM. It was as true in 1971 as it is true today and will be true tomorrow.

Think on this. If a woman is abused and says nothing, then there would be no need to resign. No letter would be accepted, hence no praise.
