Don't forget the CLICO and HCU fiascos

Now that Ewart Williams has retired as the Governor of the  Central Bank and been replaced by Mr Jwala Rambarran, the usual scenario has unfolded.

To start with, we have people like Terrence Farrell and others lauding the work of Mr Williams and the other complainers finding fault with the new  Governor and hoping he will be neutral in his decision making.

Lest we forget, it was under Mr Williams's  tenure that the CLICO fiasco unfolded and almost brought the country to its financial knees.

Let us also remember that this disaster was a long time in coming.

Then there was the HCU, another financial disaster and one must wonder why the Central Bank with all its overseeing powers and  governed by Mr Williams did little to avert these disasters.

I hardly think Mr Rambarran could do a worse job.
