Dwayne Gibbs not to blame

We like to play the blame game a lot in this country. Get off Dwayne Gibbs's back. We have been having this problem with crime for years, and not one of the commissioners of police came up with a good crime plan. Except Randolph Burroughs: he went after criminals like a bloodhound.

Mr Gibbs came from a country of about 35 million people, and I am quite sure he has never seen so many heinous and gruesome murders like what he is seeing in our country of a mere one and a half million.

I do not see the reason for doing any appraisal on Mr Gibbs when nobody is getting to the root of crime.

Not one of the governments that came into power went after the underworld—the gun suppliers. How are the guns getting into the hands of criminals? Where is the money coming from to buy sophisticated weapons? If that is not addressed, people will continue to die.

We cannot have a State of Emergency every month. The SoE worked to an extent, but the majority of guns remained in the hands of the criminals and they merely put them away.

The families of the gun-toting criminals know what's going on, even some of the people in the neighbourhoods know, but they are not saying anything because they benefit from the crimes when money and big-time jewelry come their way. Who is going to talk, especially in the hotspots?

It is time for the police to arrest entire families when guns and ammunition are found in homes. What kind of parents will be in a house with their children and not know what they are doing? How can a teenager walk in and out of a parent's home without the parent knowing where he is going, and who he is hanging out with?

A lot of parents failed their children and are now blaming society for their downfall. Do not blame Mr Gibbs. He is trying his best.

How do we expect the crime and murders to stop when some of the police (and soldiers) are involved at various levels? Root out the corrupt officers and see how things will change. Too much information is hidden from the police because people do not trust them.

This foolishness about doing an appraisal on Gibbs's performance is a waste of time. Do the appraisal on some of our other police officers.
