Fool me twice...
My dear Minister of Finance, Larry Howai, there is a maxim that goes: “To err is human. To forgive, divine.” However, I cannot forgive the identical error you are making with Nipdec and the $36 million omnibus supply to the Public Transport Service Corporation. Apparently you have not learnt your lesson with the firing of the Caribbean Airlines board. You will be insulted again on this issue. I wonder why a perceived respectable and successful businessman must subject himself to humiliation. Didn’t Cabinet approve the contract?
Other sayings come to mind: “Laughing all the way to bank,” and “He who laughs last laughs best.” However, Mr Howai, so far you have remained unimpressive as the Minister of Finance. You are closely following in the footsteps of your predecessor, Winston Dookeran.
My advice to you is to consult the cabal before you venture into such territory.
