George should be celebrated

Having just read the letter from Anthony Milne about George Bovell, headlined "Time for Bovell to retire, move on", I have to say that I am deeply disappointed.

Having a T&T national go up against the elite in the swimming world and place seventh surely deserves more respect than was displayed in that letter.

Beard or not, Mr Bovell has done more to put T&T on the world map in this and the previous Olympic Games than Mr Milne has done in his entire life.

I do feel that George Bovell should be celebrated as the person that he is — a truly outstanding athlete and a role model for future Olympic participants from T&T. He may appear to be past his prime, but so does Mr Milne.
