Gibbs, Ewatski have got to go

I have been following the latest episode of the Dwayne Gibbs/Jack Ewatski soap opera and I think the people of the country have had enough of these two expatriates.

If the performance of these men was as the country hoped and expected, I don't think the nation would have objected to buying a plane for surveillance purposes since the results would have spoken for themselves. But it is the opposite: more policemen than ever before are before the courts on charges and police canteens have been closed down.

Police officers are only chasing drunks, taking instructions from Ian Alleyne via the television and working for undertakers when it comes to murders. If you look closely at the situation were it not for Ian Alleyne, detection rates would be almost zero.

So by and large, in the time they have been here, neither Gibbs nor Ewatski has produced one single initiative, one single action or one single change that has given the people value for money in terms of effective policing.

Deputy Commissioner Ewatski is happy to further his high flying hobby and Commissioner Gibbs is happily running on weekends.

So it looks like they have come here as retirees to soak in some good old fashioned Caribbean sun which does wonders for a tan. As if the issue wasn't vexatious enough, wouldn't you know it, Commissioner Gibbs is once again out of the country.
