Help our boys

I was glad to see that Rennie Dumas has raised the issue of boys' underachievement (Express, October 13).

Male underachievement has been raised as a problem in every developed country, including the UK, Germany and Australia. Even the US is waking up to it.

What might help is a campaign from one of the world-class Caribbean athletes, maybe Ato Boldon or Usain Bolt, who's presently in Australia, to alert schools to the needs of boys and encourage boys to try harder.

My website has many practical ideas for teachers. Good luck to all teachers and parents of boys. Never stop encouraging your boys to read and achieve.
