Hotspots need Rowley’s boots

A few nights ago I saw the most curious of images as the Leader of the Opposition and political leader of the People’s National Movement, Dr Keith Rowley was shown putting on boots to go visit the victims of the oil spill in La Brea. My mind asked, “But what of the PNM constituents of Morvant, Laventille, Beetham and Sea Lots?

“Surely Dr Rowley is reading the same papers I read, watching the same news, seeing people dying hard every day for a lack of vision for their lives and their PNM communities and anything like leadership?”

Why hasn’t their de facto leader ever taken it upon himself to throw on those trusty boots and go visit?

Even when the community of Beetham became a war zone and we were bombarded with pictures of the army and the police pushing them back, where were Dr Rowley’s boots then?

I call on the people of Morvant, Beetham, Laventille and Sea Lots to get their hands on some oil and spill it in their communities, and perhaps their leader Dr Rowley might be tempted to put on his boots again and come visit.Phillip Edward Alexander
