ToolsIt's us to blameI refer to a letter in the Express of March 2 headlined "What a country" by EA Anthony. Mr Anthony has his observation dead on. What a country indeed. As I've said over and over the way things are in Trinidad and Tobago, the people appear to like it so as long as it's not "them" taking the heat. In other countries the citizens would react differently – they would be crying out for the authorities to do something, the media would be zeroing in on this story for months, seeking out new and pertinent information to deal with the outcry. In T&T the only time an outcry can be heard is on the day of an event or if Carnival or some rum-drinking event is threatened. Other than that, life goes on. The people of Trinidad and Tobago are largely responsible for the current crime situation because of their lack of caring and responsibility. M Felix via e-mail |
