Jack, do something about crime or resign

Mr Warner, please stop politicising crime and either do something about it or resign. In case you haven't noticed, there has been an upsurge in murders throughout the country and citizens continue to live in fear. I'm asking you—what do you consider "serious crimes"?

As far as I am concerned, murder is the most severe crime. Telling us that serious crimes are down amid a surge in murders is "playing smart with stupidness."

Citizens are afraid to report crimes for fear that criminals will learn their identity. And to add insult to injury, the detection rate is ridiculously low. The perpetrators of these horrific crimes continue to roam our streets.

Perhaps I am naive, but in my view, the only solution to arresting crime is to apprehend the criminals. Are we as a nation optimising crime fighting technology like DNA andforensic sciences? Isn't it time we employ scientific methods to link criminals to crime scenes? Or, does this methodology exist only in television dramas and movies.
