Judges living on another planet

I read and heard the Chief Justice's statements about members of the bench having to face the economic challenges of grocery shopping, etc.

With all due respect, while all citizens are subject to the same basic needs costs to live, not all of us are afforded the perks of free housing and salaries as members of the bench. They must live on a different planet to be making such statements when compared to "regular" working class folks.

It may be true their compensation packages have not been reviewed for a long time, but for a senior member to use the grocery analogy is not comparing apples with apples when making such statements in public for the "regular" citizen to hear. Such statements are better made in a more appropriate forum and manner.
