Jumping on the wagon

True football fans are aware of the many “bandwagonists” who clamour for teams and individuals only when they are winning or perceived to be winning.Such is the group of counterfeit Argentina fans that burned their jerseys after Germany narrowly won the World Cup.

As an authentic Argentina fan since 1978, I can acknowledge that both teams played fantastic football. Arguably Messi missed the goal to seal the deal but that’s life.

The world enjoyed an entertaining World Cup final and although Argentina finished second, their fans can hold their heads high. The South Americans dispelled all doubts as to whether they would have been a worthy adversary to the consistent Germans. I have no regrets about supporting my Argentina team.

Congrats to the German outfit for a well fought match and a deserving victory and kudos to the enterprising Argentinians for showing the world that they are always a force to be reckoned with.
