Kamla's efforts go a long way

I would like to express my thankfulness and warmest regards to our Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, for showing her utmost concern to the plight of residents affected by the floods on Saturday.

These people were in need of a leader to help in their darkest hour, and our Prime Minister has shown herself to definitely be up to the task, taking a leading role personally in assisting these citizens.

It is a heartwarming pleasure to have the honour of looking up to such a leader who has been undoubtedly grounded from the beginning, unlike previous leaders. Our Prime Minister has done what no other male prime minister of Trinidad and Tobago has ever done.

Mrs Persad-Bissessar has carried herself with the strength and compassion needed for such an incident, and it should be commended as such. She has once again shown her commitment to help these people and, by extension, her Government's commitment to serve the people and serve them well, so they can recover from such a life-altering experience.

These acts of compassion by our first female prime minster would also raise the morale of those affected by illustrating that this administration is committed to improving the lives of citizens and ensuring the road to recovery is a smooth and short one.

We pray for those who have lost loved ones in the flood, and we pray that such disasters do not happen again in the near future. I hope the country grows stronger from facing challenges such as this, and we can gain courage from those in the leadership of our great country.
