Leave room for Tobago's children

This is an open letter to the Minister of Education, Tim Gopeesingh; THA Chief Secretary, Orville London and the Secretary for Education, Youth Affairs and Sports, Gary Melville.

I am a Standard Five pupil of the Pentecostal Light and Life Foundation Primary School in Tobago. I would like to express my disappointment with what occurred on Monday 18th of March 2013.

On that said day, another pupil and I were supposed to attend the inauguration of the new President, Mr Anthony Carmona, but instead our principal informed us that we could not go because of the shortage of plane tickets.

My friend and I had high expectations of seeing the President in person and were devastated when we heard the news.

When I returned home that evening, I watched pupils from various schools shaking hands and taking photographs with the President. I was upset because I was not there to do the same. I wondered why it is that Tobago's children are disadvantaged on these auspicious occasions.

I hope in the future we the children of Tobago, will not be this disappointed as we were on Monday.
