Let's build a better T&T together

Once again, "in a blue moon" at that, we got the opportunity to celebrate another gold medal achievement at this year's Summer Olympics. Also, on August 31, 2012, with the appearance of a second full moon for the month, we were able to celebrate another "once-in-a-blue-moon" occasion, this time, an Independence jubilee.

Although our golden jubilee Independence celebration was "marred" by the failure/inability of the opposing factions of our parliamentary representatives to grasp the opportunity and meet on common ground for the good of the nation, Trinidadians and Tobagonians were able, nonetheless, to put that aside and come together as one happy family to celebrate this joyous occasion.

But now (as the late calypsonian Merchant once sang) that this Independence bacchanal has died away:

"Let us forget spite and grudges and concentrate, come let us sit and try to relate. Because now, more than ever, we must show, Discipline, Tolerance and Production, to build a strong and better nation, that is the main foundation. So come, let us work hand in hand, because this is our land. Come, my brother, Come, my sister, and let us build our nation together,"

Government and Opposition alike.
