Meet healthcare costs for all PMs

I seem to recall a comment by Patrick Manning that he would relinquish his San Fernando East seat before the end of the current term; and in view of his health situation the constituents must naturally have some concerns.

It is right that the Government is meeting his medical costs. This gesture should extend not only to all former prime ministers, but should be formalised as an entitlement and not be dependent on the goodwill of the incumbent government or prime minister.

Should a bye-election be called the Congress of the People must be prepared to contest the seat. In the 2010 elections COP's Carol Cuffy-Dowlat fared very well with 6,109 votes versus Manning's 9,736.

Should the Partnership succeed they will be stronger with 30 MPs, leaving the Opposition with 11 MPs.
