Every now and then, together with some friends, I would spend some time on our boat in Scotland Bay.
We would enjoy all the scenery and nature around us. But what we especially enjoy is the turtles that would surface near the boat— from babies to oldies—they are so beautiful and graceful.
To our horror, around 6 p.m. on January 5 some fishermen in a pirogue dropped a seine right across the bay. (If facing north—from the point on the left hand side, across the bay, to the campers' beach on the right hand side).
At 7 a.m. on January 6 they pulled up the seine. As they were across the bay I could not see their catch. We could only hope there were no dead turtles in the net!
Besides the seine activity there is heavy boating traffic in this bay. This sort of thing should not be allowed.
Perhaps the people in authority could monitor the situation and put appropriate controls in place.
