ToolsNew hope for T&TI was fortunate to be at the historic swearing-in ceremony of our new President, Anthony Carmona, on March 18. When he finished his inaugural address, I said to my son, Stephen, "That was undoubtedly the greatest speech ever given by a dignitary of Trinidad and Tobago—bar none!". In retrospect, I continue to stand by that declaration for President Carmona covered such an enormous amount of ground in his speech, not only identifying problems in our society, but offering solutions. What was also remarkable was how inspiring his message was! Folks, we are entering a new era where it will no longer be "fashionable" to say that this country "gone through". By his example and exhortations, President Carmona has given us new hope and impetus to do better. I wish him a long and successful term of office. Mervyn E Telfer Cocorite |
