Ramlogan went beyond the call
I have to say that as a resident of East Port of Spain, I am pleased that my five children have been able to get brand new school bags for the new term.
When I heard Attorney General Anand Ramlogan was coming to visit us, I must say I was not impressed. But, his presence at the very moment he arrived lit up the eyes of the scores of children who live here when a car-load of new book bags was seen from the distance.
Still recovering from the embarrassment and hurt of the recent murders that took place here, this event, I must admit, brought a glimmer of happiness to us residents and slightly softened the atmosphere.
As a single mother of five children and being employed under minimum wage, it is a daily struggle to make ends meet. Already the new school term is fast approaching and at least one huge part of my worry could subside. The book bags were well received by all parents and children alike, making those who represent our pride and joy ever more excited for school.
Our Prime Minister and Opposition Leader should encourage all MPs alike to be as kind as this, and not wait for a catastrophe to arise and then to exercise care and kindness to the people who stand loyal to them.
