Sailing to Kolkata soon

With the "Good Ship T&T" ready and waiting to set sail to Kolkata at the end of March for the 2013 version of Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 cricket, there seems to be the usual uncertainty in the air as to whether Sunil Narine will wear the colours of Kolkata Knight Riders, will Kieron Pollard be a Mumbai Indian, Dwayne Bravo, a Chennai Superking or Kevon Cooper a Rajasthan Royal.

Although Team Trinidad and Tobago or Red Force, as they are affectionately called, will be a force to be reckoned with in this competition if all our stars are available, some are of the opinion that without them, it is a golden opportunity for "new" players to show their wares and be exposed for future auctions, although ironically, this will further weaken our team and the T&T Cricket Board will continue to produce players for "export".

Since the Indian cricket population will be patiently waiting to welcome our cricketers with open arms, perhaps our Tourism Development Company should grasp this opportunity to showcase Trinidad and Tobago as not just a cricket-playing nation but generally a great place to visit, not to mention the sun, sea and sand of our beautiful sister isle.
