Sending a negative signal

I am indeed utterly surprised by the decision of former prime minister Basdeo Panday not to attend the funeral of one of our most distinguished statesmen, ANR Robinson.

In his statement, he saw fit to explain he was responsible for Robinson’s ascendancy to the positions of prime minister and president. Reading between the lines, it’s clear he was disappointed by not being rewarded similarly by Mr Robinson.

Mr Panday should realise his absence will send a negative signal which could damage his standing as a past leader of T&T. It is not too late to join the cortege.
