T&T needs highway

The proposed re-route takes the highway away from Penal, San Francique and Siparia and surrounding areas. How is this justifiable? Is it only supposed to benefit persons living before or after these areas?I live in this area, I know the daily traffic and congestion that I face when I have to get to San Fernando.I live in the Fyzabad area, and getting right to San Fernando is a headache because the traffic is unbearable.Just imagine, one hour and 45 minutes to reach there, with the highway it would take 15 minutes for the most. Eventually it is a benefit to me and to so many others in the area.

This investment will significantly reduce travel times between the south-west region and central-northern Trinidad and increase road safety. These highway improvements are essential to support industrial development, increased employment and income levels, and improve movement of people, goods and services benefiting both the regional population and the national economy.

It is unfortunate that a handful of persons are utilising the media to create a hype much greater than it really is and that so many people who do not live here or are affected directly by the route seem to be mimicking the opinion of those persons who keep appearing on TV in opposition.

Just one family who actually have to be relocated is in the Re-route Movement, the rest of people there are just making trouble. Too many people stand to benefit from the Debe to Mon Desir portion of the highway. To abandon it and implement the proposed re-route has no benefit to the many of us who live in the area.

Build the Debe to Mon Desir highway!
