T&T on the rise

The national budget has managed to not only create and address a new structure of national priorities, but has been able to build upon what was very strong foundational work since the start of the People's Partnership Government.

I am especially happy about the Minister's approach to the fuel subsidy with a removal at the top end, while at the same time announcing an investment for more aggressive CNG conversions and availability.

His focus on turning out more skilled persons from URP and CEPEP is also deserving of praise.

It is also extremely encouraging to note that we have gone from an almost five per cent decline situation in 2009 to a 1.2 per cent growth situation in 2012 — three years! This is marvellous and no doubt will help build growing confidence in T&T's economic upswing.
