ToolsTeachers not overpaid babysittersIt's laughable that citizens want children to be made scholars by teachers whom they wish not to see paid well in order to prosper in order to deliver education well so that said children can be made into scholars. Teachers they are socially conditioned to think of as overpaid babysitters. Why complain that the overpaid babysitters do not teach well? Why do parents deposit their children to receive formal educational instruction from overpaid babysitters? We note with interest that when their children fail to pass CSEC (Caribbean Secondary Education of Certificate) exams in hordes, they berate the mere overpaid babysitters. Denial prolongs the problem. Even if children do attend school and teachers are present, ready and hyped to teach, the average child is not interested in academic learning. The average child does not cooperate to receive vocational educational instruction. Children's own parents and caregivers find them stubborn and obstinate against easy penetration of education instruction. Teachers throughout T&T report that children are set against doing homework, revising, doing those tasks conducive to learning. So what is this nonsense talk about children losing out? T&T's youngsters en bloc reject the concept of education. They kick and scream against it at the primary and secondary levels. Still their clear and ever present attitudes are dismissed and it is "brass-facely" argued that the children are victimised in the delivery of educational instruction. At best they are willing victims. B Joseph via e-mail |
