The importance of electing proper leaders
Permit me a little space to respond to the letter “The gold dust of Mandela”, written by Dr Wayne Kublalsingh (Express, December 11).
I would like to endorse and commend him for writing such an interesting and enlightening letter. Going through it, one would see and realise how it is important to put people in the position of leadership.
Leaders from all over the world are shedding crocrodile tears for this great son of the soil of South Africa.
Where were these same leaders when this man was imprisoned for so long a period, and when he was sick and lying on bed? As the saying goes, “talk is cheap” while action brings success.
In addressing the gathering, one leader said, “We, too, must act on behalf of justice. We, too, must act on behalf of peace.” I tend to ask the question: where is the justice and peace? Is there justice and peace in Iraq, Afghanistan, north-west Pakistan, Palestine and Yemen and many other countries around the world?
May God bring leaders on the face of earth who could truly bring justice and peace, so all human beings could live as one great family.
