Time for Jack to work with Govt
I must commend the Honourable Prime Minister, firstly, for meeting with Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley and collaborating on a way forward with regard to this abhorrent crime situation. I, for one, am very satisfied on hearing the initiatives the Government intends to undertake.
However, I noted with dismay several organisations and individuals have expressed their lack of faith in these new initiatives. I must say, it is really sad they have opted to shoot down the Government, even before any of these initiatives were implemented or even given a chance. It begs the question: if they cannot support what the Government is doing and they clearly don’t intend on assisting in any way, then what? What have they ever done to assist in reducing crime?
Among those voicing their concerns was the infamous Jack Warner, who stated it is the same old crime plan. I am a bit confused, however. On one hand, he boasted that during his tenure as minister of National Security, crime was on the decline. To me, this would mean the initiatives which he claimed were there under his watch were working, so how come he has a problem now?
Mr Warner needs to let go of the bitterness and instead show the people he really does have their interest by working with the Government for the greater good. If a man like Keith Rowley can work with the Government, why can’t Jack? Is it that he is secretly hoping for the crime rate to rise so he will look good by comparison? Come on, Jack, you can do better.
