Union leader pushing greedy, dependency head
I wish to commend the Express on its editorial calling for workers to question the motives of the president of the OWTU on his latest directives to Petrotrin workers. Clearly, his actions were another attempt to destabilise the country.
Apart from his "self-seeking agenda and headline-grabbing antics, the disingenuous leader" is propagating a trend of greed and dependency, a syndrome that is spreading across the land and rapidly gnawing away at our society. Most definitely, not a sign of industry nor productivity.
It is indeed contradictory to explode in joyful celebration of the nation's half-century of Independence and in the same breath, attempt to enchain the citizens in mournful chaos of inconvenience. A backward step at a time when we appear to be taking greater pride in our liberty!
After 50 years, are we still at the pre-school stage of mental development where everything we want must be handed to us on a platter?
Have we not matured to become self-reliant, self-sufficient, to apply self-effort and to use the tool of discriminative power in deciding our responsibility ?
