congratulations to coach Hutson Charles and members of the Soca Warriors football team.
I don't know about other Trinbagonians but I am proud of your achievements during the Caribbean Cup campaign. After all the hurdles that had to be crossed during the qualifying tournaments and up to the final you guys did the nation proud.
Just getting to the quarter finals was, for me, a remarkable achievement. While you were edged in the finals by Cuba, a team that I am sure had better preparation and also proper funding from their government, you showed the spirit and fight associated with a team that is well coached and had each other's back.
I am sure there were people in high places who are withholding funding and support from you, hoping for failure so that they could continue to spread their propaganda of concentrating on youth development.
I hope that the business community and all citizens would support this team for the Gold Cup next year and beyond. It is time we start building a formidable team that gets back to the top of Caribbean football and is able to compete on the world stage.
I also hope the Football Federation sticks with coach Hutson Charles as he seems to be working well with the players and is disciplined and promotes hard work and commitment. Please give him the exposure to improve his technical, tactical and man management skills.
Again, congratulations, and best wishes to you and your families for the Christmas season and God's richest blessings for 2013.
