We need politicians who inspire, want what’s best
The recent surge of politicians in the limelight has made me think twice. Firstly, what really is the motivation for most of these candidates? Is it really, not to take the motto away from Rotary, “service above self”? Secondly, “character” and “integrity” are words that have been thrown around so much in these latest campaigns that I want to lend some of these politicians my dictionary!
It has recently been brought to the public’s attention that some of the candidates in certain parties were models in a certain weekly newspaper (no judgment, maybe they needed to pay for tertiary education, although I think that’s free now), have been accused of sexual offences, car theft, etc.
I believe in redemption as much as the next person, but there needs to be a limit. In our society, we need to raise the standards for the future generation. The value system which existed back in my day is relatively tarnished now due to the dysfunctional family dynamic which currently exists. We need politicians of both genders who inspire, who conjure real thought, who genuinely value change and want what’s best for this country.
