What a waste of taxpayers’ $$
Reported in all the news media: “Government to spend $40 million on Mille Fleurs”!
This Mille Fleurs, a literal piece of rot, is now going to be a monument to the plantocracy, and the descendants of slaves and indentured labourers must accept this waste of taxpayers’ monies!
What will be the use of a possible $50 million investment in this mad project? Of what use will be Mille Fleurs to citizens of Trinidad and Tobago? How will the State utilise this $50 million building? What is the purpose of such a huge expenditure? (Other than to enrich the already wealthy builders and contractors.)
This is just another obscene gesture in the faces of the salaried workers, the poor, the jobless, the self-employed... all those small people who have no one to listen to them or to speak on their behalf. And the Government wants to take away the subsidy on fuel?
If for some obscure reason the Government wants to “preserve” Mille Fleurs, why not a scaled-down edifice of say 1:5, and locate such elsewhere, perhaps at Fort George, Diego Martin or Santa Cruz.
Apparently this Government has learnt nothing from the recent by-election (Chaguanas West) and will continue to antagonise the electorate with its arrogance and hostility towards the average citizen.
