Who checking these clunkers?

THIS is an important matter that I think needs to be addressed again, before it gets further out of hand.

One morning this week, while coming over the Lady Young Road, I was forced to "tricle" behind an old dilapidated green pick-up (as it's not easy to overtake on the Lady Young) that evidently should not be on the road.

There were so many faults that would cause that vehicle to fail an inspection, apart from only being able to travel at ten miles per hour, it's not funny. Yet the driver, knowing fully well that he could break the law and get away with it, continues to do so.

Whatever happened to the vehicle inspection law for which notices were publicly posted warning motorists they could be charged up to $5,000 for not having their old vehicles inspected? I adhered to it and had my vehicle inspected.

Have you ever noticed how many vehicles do not have current stickers? Where are all the traffic wardens and what urgent matters are they attending to? How does the Government expect us to respect laws if they do not enforce them? Or is it that they only enforce certain laws at their convenience?

Don't they know that if they allow people to break minor laws, they will eventually graduate to breaking major ones?
