Why should we legalise a problem?

On how many issues are we going to blur the lines of what is right and what is wrong to accommodate those who stand on the wrong side of the line? We continue to look for reasons to justify abortion, homosexuality, prostitution and countless other ills.

Some talk of choice for women with unwanted pregnancies, but women have a choice, the choice of contraceptives and abstinence.

Victims of rape and incest cannot erase the past by making an innocent unborn child a victim of execution. Women who cannot care for a child can choose to place the child in an institution that will provide for the child and give that child a chance at life.

We need to stop making excuses when we are faced with difficult issues. We need to be innovative in our quest to eliminate abortions, prostitution and other issues plaguing our society, rather than throwing our hands in the air and saying legalise it.

Discrimination, sexual abuse, bullying and other wrongs have caused individuals to find solace within the homosexual community, but no matter how large the numbers grow, no matter how many nations legalise homosexuality it will always be wrong.

If homosexuality was a healthy alternative way of life, then homosexuals would be able to populate an island of their own and lead meaningful lives without interference, but they can't, for they will soon be extinct unless they engage in heterosexual behaviour.

Let us examine and deal with the issues in our society by examining the root causes. Let us work towards a healthier, safer more civil society. Let us not exacerbate our problems by legalising same- sex marriages and homosexuality.
