Works ministry's non-performance

I would like to express my utter dismay at the rubbish that passes for performance in this country, this statement is not limited to the present government ministers but to administrations and officials throughout the Public Service.

Since 2007 I have been making attempts to have the Drainage division construct a proper retaining wall for the river that borders my property, to no avail. A detailed package outlining the series of events which have lead to the initial erosion of the river banks were sent to then minister in the Ministry of Works and Transport, Colm Imbert, this package was also sent to then MP Gillian Lucky, the director of Drainage.

I received a letter dated January 24th 2007, on a Ministry of Works and Transport letterhead indicating that my letter was "forwarded to Shamshad Mohammed, director of Drainage, to investigate and advise accordingly".

Since 2007, I have yet to glean any results relating to my request, and the damage to my property continues to worsen.

It matters not how many governments change nor how many times ministers change not even, when the office is moved from one minister to another. These factors are not sufficient enough to justify the non-performance of ministries. Even after the General Elections whilst the government changes the entire working of the country is not affected for over four years!
