A 55-year-old police corporal with 17 years service appeared yesterday before an Arima magistrate on two charges of indecent sexual assault against two women police officers.
Colin St Rose of San Raphael, Arima, stood in silence as he appeared before Magistrate Indrani Cedeno in the Arima Magistrates’ First Court.
One of the incidents allegedly took place on December 13, 2012, in the vicinity of the Eddie Hart Grounds, Tacarigua while St Rose was on patrol along with a woman police officer along the Priority Bus Route.
The other incident allegedly occurred when the accused was on patrol with another woman officer along St Michael Road, Tacarigua on February 10 this year.
Both charges were laid indictably and St Rose was not called upon to enter a plea.
Sgt Charles Hoskins of the Arouca CID was the complainant in the matter.
Cedeno granted St Rose bail in the sum of $400,000 to cover both charges, and the matter is expected to resume on April 10.
As part of the conditions of the bail, he is expected to surrender his passport and was ordered not to communicate with the alleged assault victims.
St Rose, who was said to have been recently absorbed into the Special Reserve Police and was last attached to the Arouca Patrol Unit, was arrested last Tuesday after extensive investigations by Sgt Hoskins, with advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
