15 held for drugs in police exercise

A large quantity of cocaine and marijuana was found stashed in two houses in Barataria on Friday.
Police seized the drugs and arrested 15 persons in connection with the offence.
A team of officers attached to the Northern Division went to the two houses and discovered two kilogrammes of marijuana and bags containing cocaine.
The drug bust was part of a police exercise including Superintendent John Daniel, ASP Sacenarine Mahabir and Inspector Ali.The police raid began at 8 a.m. and ended at 7 p.m.
Police said 107 traffic offence tickets were issued.
The 15 suspects are expected to be charged with narcotic-related charges.
Police said the exercise was in keeping with a request from acting Commissioner of Police Stephen Williams to place high visibility of police throughout the division, with a view to detecting crime and taking appropriate action.
