THE relatives of two Diego Martin men murdered over the weekend remained at a loss as to why they were killed.
The murders occurred separately and, according to detectives, the incidents were not related.
The first occurred on Saturday night at 10.45.
The victim, Ricardo “Bounty” Small, 31, of La Puerta, Diego Martin, was a taxi driver and that night he dropped off two passengers at Factory Road, Diego Martin.
While turning the car around he was approached by two men who opened fire, hitting him several times about the body. He died at the scene.
Relatives said yesterday Small had three children and although he was a bit “hot-headed”, he did not deserve to die in the manner that he did.
The other murder occurred on Sunday night at 9.15 and the victim was Ricardo “Watty” Watson of Waterwheel in Diego Martin.
Police said his relatives heard several gunshots outside the family home and when they ran outside they found Watson lying on the road.
They took him to Port of Spain General Hospital, where he died at 9.55 p.m.
According to relatives, Watson knew that he was going to be killed at some time, having survived being shot six times three years ago.
The Express met with some of Watson’s relatives at Forensic Science Centre in Federation Park yesterday and they said he had both good and bad ways, but he was a devoted father to his five-year-old daughter. His girlfriend is also seven months pregnant.
Homicide Bureau officers are continuing investigations.
