Two men are dead following two separate motor vehicular accidents in Northern Trinidad on Thursday.
According to police reports, the first incident took place at about 11.35 a.m. on Thursday along the Caroni North Bank Road, Piarco.
Maurice Scott, 27, of Evergreen Street, Carapo, was driving his green Nissan B12 motor vehicle in a westerly direction along the Caroni North Bank Road when, on reaching the vicinity of the Central Experiment Station, the car spun several times before running off the road and crashing into a light pole, effectively trapping the injured 27-year-old man in his car.
Witnesses to the accident contacted the police and emergency health services, however, when it was determined that they were unable to safely remove Scott, the Fire Service was contacted for the jaws of life.
Scott was eventually removed from the wrecked car and rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he died while undergoing treatment.
A few hours later, at about 6.10 p.m. officers of the Northern Division were called out to another accident, this time along the Trincity Central Road, Trincity.
According to police reports, 21-year-old Kevish Maharaj from Sunset Drive, Arouca, was heading west along College Road, Trincity, when he stopped upon reaching the Trincity Central Road to make a right turn.
It was at this moment that the driver observed a motorcyclist heading in a southerly direction along the Trincity Central Road.
Upon reaching Maharajís vehicle, the motorcyclist lost control of his bike and he came into contact with the stationary car.
The motorcyclist, who was later identified as 41-year-old Carlton Wellington of De Freitas Boulevard, La Horquetta, was thrown several feet into the air, before landing in the middle of the roadway.
Wellington died on the scene.
