2 held in Christmas Day murder

TWO suspects were arrested yesterday afternoon in connection with the Christmas day murder of an 18-year-old Maracas/St Joseph man.

The suspects were arrested shortly after midday by a team of officers from the Northern Division who, along with officers from the Stolen Vehicles Department were on exercise duty in Maracas Valley.

Police said the suspects were held a short distance away from where Cordell "Busy" Dhanoolal was shot dead near an abandoned house at the corner of Acono Road and Maracas Valley Road.

Detectives said the suspects are both 23 years old and lives in the Maracas area. They also both claimed to be gardeners said police.

Dhanoolal was found lying dead in the abandoned house around 2 p.m., on Christmas Day last year.

Residents of Hilltop Drive and Acono Road had reported hearing the sound of gunfire and upon going to investigate, they found Dhanoolal's body in the building.

He was shot a total of five times about the body.
