30 birds in one small cage: two fishermen charged

TWO fishermen are expected to appear at the San Fernando Magistrates' Court this morning charged with possession of protected animals and having birds in an undersized cage.

Reports are that at 1 a.m. yesterday morning, a Nissan B13 was intercepted along Pluck Road in Woodland. The vehicle was intercepted by officers from the Southern Division Task Force.

Thirty picoplat birds in one cage and two baby capuchin monkeys in straw baskets were discovered in the car's trunk.

The two occupants  of the vehicle were arrested and charged.
