4 newborn babies in Sando for holiday

By Susan Mohammed

TREASURE was the name of the baby girl who was the first of four babies to be born on Christmas Day yesterday at San Fernando General Hospital.
Little Treasure was born at 12.57 a.m., weighing three kilogrammes, to Sharon Baptiste, 29, of Clarke Road, Penal.
She is the fourth child for Baptiste, who also has twin seven-year-old boys and a five-year-old girl.
The other babies born were a baby girl for Shinelle Brereton, 27, of Moruga; a baby boy for 16-year-old Sarah Dassath; and a baby girl for Terneil Rampersad, 36, of New Grant.
Baptiste said she had a normal delivery and Treasure came on her expected due date.
The mother said the name Treasure was chosen by her family and friends after she took a cruise on the Treasure Queen last month.
“I went on a girls’ lime and everyone was calling the baby Treasure, and I just kept the name.”
The newborn kept the maternity ward busy for Dr Krishna Rampersadsingh, head of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit, and hospital staff, who delivered 14 babies on Christmas Eve in addition to the four yesterday.
Member of Parliament for San Fernando West and Minister of Public Administration Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan and Santa Claus also visited the babies and other patients at the hospital.
