FORTY-SIX people were arrested in 14 hours in the Southern Police Division, police said yesterday.
Of those arrested, 17 were detained for driving over the legal alcohol limit. The others, police said, were held on outstanding warrants and for illegal drugs. Police said they seized a total of 100 grammes of marijuana in the exercise which was conducted between 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. yesterday.
The exercise was co-ordianted by Senior Superintendent of Police Cecil Santana, Assistant Superintendent of Police Zamsheed Mohammed and led by Inspector Don Gajadhar of the San Fernando CID.
The arrested are expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
