By Carolyn Kissoon carolyn.kissoon@trinidadexpress.com

A 60-year-old grandfather was detained by police yesterday, following reports that he sexually assaulted a seven-year-old relative.
The suspect was being interviewed by investigators last evening.
The child was admitted to the San Fernando General Hospital where she was examined yesterday.
The Express was told that ChildLine contacted the police and informed them of the case on Tuesday.
The officers immediately visited the family’s Ste Madeleine home and took the child and her mother to the hospital.
The suspect is expected to be charged with the offence.
On Monday a 19-year-old man appeared in the Couva Magistrates Court charged with raping a three-year-old girl. The infant and her family are being counselled by officers of the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Child Development’s Family Services Unit.
