At least nine people were reported missing after two boats carrying 20 people collided yesterday in the Mazaruni River, Essequibo.

The website said several people had been taken to the Bartica Hospital and quoted Benn as saying the Maritime Administration had been informed and a search party launched.

He said the two vessels involved in the accident were destroyed.
