A 63-YEAR-OLD Moruga ‘”PH” driver, who was carjacked on Friday, was discovered dead, arms and legs bound, in a house in Princes Town yesterday.
Sundar Persad, a father of six, of Rest House Trace, St Mary’s Village, was found by police in a house in St Julien Village.
An autopsy performed on his body at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, yesterday found that he died of a heart attack.
Persad’s cousin, Francis Thackorie, said he last saw him on Thursday at his home and he did not speak of any death threats, or fear for his life.
Thackorie said Persad had been a career taxi driver and was never robbed.
According to police, Persad left home with his white Nissan Almera, PBU 8809, at around 6 a.m.
By 8 p.m., when he did not return home, his son went to St Mary’s Police Post to report him missing.
An all points bulletin (APB) was issued for the vehicle and on Saturday at around 2 a.m. officers of the Southern Division Task Force intercepted the vehicle with four occupants in Marabella.
The suspects, aged between 25 to 37, of Princes Town, San Fernando and Siparia, were taken into custody and the car impounded.
Police later received information and on Sunday went to a house in Maingot Street where they found Persad’s decomposing body.
Police said his hands and feet were tied, and he was wrapped in a sheet.
The suspects were being interviewed by homicide detectives yesterday.
