ACCOUNTANT Ann Marie Gopaul was fined $2,000 on Monday after pleading guilty to drunk driving.
Gopaul, 26, of Debe, appeared before San Fernando Magistrate Rehanna Hosein. She was held at 2.35 a.m. on Saturday while driving along the SS Erin Road.
Gopaul told the court she had three beers at Carnival City, La Romaine, with her cousin and was heading home, when she was stopped by the police.
She was found to be 23 microgrammes over the legal limit.
Gopaul was told to pay the fine immediately or serve fours months in prison.
Saw mill operator Ravi Sookdeosingh, 41, of Bel Air, La Romaine, also appeared before Magistrate Hosein, charged with drunk driving. He was stopped in the vicinity of Siparia/Erin Road by officers at 12.15 a.m. on Saturday.
Sookdeosingh said he was returning from a party, where he had a designated driver, but could not find that person when he wanted to leave.
He then drove himself while under the influence of alcohol.
Sookdeosingh was fined $6,000 for the offence.a
