Accused to reappear in court for chopping wife

By Elizabeth Williams

Twenty-seven-year-old Kester James appeared before Scarborough Magistrate Nanette Forde-John on Thursday, on a charge of attempted murder. He was not called upon to plea as the charge was laid indictably. James will reappear before a Scarborough Court today following tracing.

James was charged with the attempted murder of his wife, 26-year-old Natalia Subero, of Maraval, Port of Spain. Subero was warded at the Scarborough General Hospital in a stable condition, with chop wounds about the body.

According to police reports, Corporal Jason Clarke and other Moriah police officers were contacted last Monday about a domestic dispute at Mt Thomas, Golden Lane shortly before 6 a.m. When officers responded, Subero was found severely chopped, lying on the ground, while James fled police capture by running into some nearby bushes. He later surrendered to police.
