Activist: Gender Policy must be done right

THE National Gender Policy will be the focus when the Network of NGOs takes to the streets of the capital city for International Women's Day, celebrated worldwide today.

Network head, activist Hazel Brown, said yesterday it was crucial that the Gender Policy be done right if Trinidad and Tobago was to progress in the area of women's affairs.

"A National Gender Policy promotes gender equality which assists all individuals of a nation, women and men, boys and girls, to achieve their fullest potential," Brown said.

"It will also assist in the empowerment of the populace of any nation as its goals and objectives should be broad based and encompass a wide range of sectors."

Today's activities will begin at 9 a.m. on the Brian Lara Promenade, Port of Spain.
