Ammo seized, 2 held in Laventille raid

TWO Laventille men were arrested while more than 60 rounds of assorted ammunition was seized when police raided the area on Thursday night in an exercise led by Snr Supt Carlton Alleyne.

Police said the raid took place between 7-11 p.m. when officers of the Inter Agency Task Force went to Boxill Trace, Laventille, where they searched several homes and arrested the two men, aged 23 and 26.

In an abandoned house in the area, officers found a total of 30 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, 30 rounds of 9 mm ammunition and five rounds of .45 ammunition in a black plastic bag.

The two suspects, who were wanted for shooting with intent, robbery and arms and ammunition possession, are expected to appear before a Port of Spain magistrate on Monday.
