Armed bandits rob Digicel in Point

Bandits struck at a cellphone outlet in Point Fortin shortly after opening hours yesterday.

Police said two men armed with guns entered a Digicel outlet, along Cap-de-Ville/Guapo Road, Point Fortin, around 8.30 a.m.

The men tied up the lone customer sales representative and raided the store of cellphones valued at $13,000.

A small quantity of cash was taken from the cash register, police said.

"There is usually two CSRs (customer service representatives) in the store, but one went for breakfast. The only one in the store was tied up and the men took phones and SIM cards," an employee said.

The unmasked men walked out of the business and escaped.

The employee was untied when her colleague got in and contacted the nearby police station.

Police searched the area for the suspects last evening but no one was arrested. —CK
