Gifted artist Samuel Walrond, who sculpted the statues of Trinidad and Tobago’s heroes, has died at the age of 95.
Walrond, who continued to work on art pieces despite going blind, passed away at his home at New Lands, Point Fortin, on Monday.
Walrond’s epic life and times were recorded in an article in the Express last September, titled “A sculptor of heroes”. He said then he wanted his work to be enjoyed by all.
Walrond’s funeral will be held at 2 p.m today at the Open Bible Church, Main Road, Point Fortin.
